Antigua Will add in UK Advert White Listing
Antigua's minister of finance Dr. Errol Cort remains optimistic that his country will be added to the UK's advertising white list for online gambling, he told the Antigua Sun this week when the newpaper requested an update.

Antigua and Kahnawake remain excluded from the list of licensing jurisdictions that UK authorities regard as acceptable licensing for gambling companies seeking to advertise in the United Kingdom. This has prompted some companies to add licensing in accepted jurisdictions to their websites.

Last month minister Cort and a delegation from his government met with UK government officials in London (see previous InfoPowa reports) and came away confident that their exclusion from the white list would be reversed, but thus far no such change has occurred.

Earlier, the UK Department of Culture, Media and Sports had informed through a press release that Antigua and Barbuda was not on the UK government’s ‘whitelist,’ which meant that the online gambling companies registered with the Caribbean islands cannot legally advertise services in the UK.

The decision was made after an extensive review of the twin island state’s Internet gambling regulations.

Countries that are currently allowed to advertise their services within the UK are the European Economic Area nations of Alderney, Malta, Gibraltar and the Isle of Man, to which the antipodean island of Tasmania was recently added.
