The Asian market is certainly the next step for many companies in the online casinos gambling industries. Because so much of Asia has yet to really embrace internet gambling most of the internet gambling companies are at the stage where they are using strategic alliances to ready the company for entry into the Asian market once legislation changes in favor of online casinos gambling. At this point though, many gambling companies are looking at other ways that they can then access the huge potential in Asian internet gambling. PacificNet is an Asian facing company that has found a small entry point into China’s gambling market. Though online casinos are not yet legal throughout the country, the state lotter is a popular pastime for the Chinese, and a new Web site was recently launched from a subsidiary of PacificNet. Guangdong Poly is a PacificNet subsidiary that has launched the Lot888.com site as a way to entice Chinese gamblers. The internet based gambling market is largely untapped, and the online casinos and other companies see the lottery as a way to establish brand name. The CEO of PacificNet notes that thihs is in fact the company’s purpose for launching the new site. CEO Tony Tong remarks, “The launch of this website is a step forward in PacificNet’s plan to participate in China’s rapidly growing state-sponsored legalised gaming and electronic lottery operations.” |
