Asian Licensee Speculation for Gambling Software Supplier
Last week, Playtech disclosed to the London stock exchange an exclusive licensing deal with one of the major Asian online casino gambling groups. And though the company released some details of the licensing deal to the stock exchange, the company was tight-lipped about releasing the name of the Asian company for “reasons of confidentiality. And considering that the Asia-Pacific market is the target of so many online casinos in the industry, there is wide-spread speculation in the industry about which of the prominent online gambling groups in Asia signed the deal with Playtech.

The London stock exchange disclosure only provided broad details about the Asian licensee. Playtech is asserting that the licensee has significant influence in the Asian online casino gambling industry; specifically that the company has a “strong and diversified presence in the Asia-Pacific region." But other than those scare details, Playtech is saying no more – at least not until the company begins to roll out its Asian facing online casinos games.

Playtech has two main business strategies, and the latest Asian licensee is right in line with plans that Playtech outlined in previous financial reports. As the online casino industry grows within the European market, Playtech has plans to buy up rival companies to expand the company’s influence and market share. The second part of the plans is to find a foothold in the emerging Asian online casinos industry.

And the Asian licensee is “significant new business win for Playtech and comes after lengthy contract formalities with the licensee,” remarks the company’s CEO, Mor Weizer. Playtech will develop new gaming content targeted at the Asian online casino players, but will also develop Playtech versions of popular Asian games that are popular within the market.
