Nokia Says Online Mobile Gaming Service is for Real

You may have heard about cell phone giant Nokia's motions to develop and release a mobile online gaming service. With not one, but two prior scheduled releases postponed for further software testing, many of us were beginning to wonder whether Nokia had the chops for the mobile gaming industry after all. Well, we can put those worries to rest, for Nokia announced this week that the next scheduled launch for their N-Gage gaming service is a sure thing.

Scheduled in just two days, the entire online gambling industry has its eyes on Nokia, who would become the first mobile cell phone manufacturer to make a large venture into the online mobile gambling sector. Even with a mediocre turnover in 2007, the mobile gaming industry is expected to generate over $7 billion in revenues over 2008.

If you ask me, that should be enough to tempt the likes of any handset manufacturer. And considering Nokia made approximately 40% of the cell phones sold in the last quarter of 2007, I couldn't think of a better company to help jump start the mobile gaming industry in 2008. So long as online casinos continue to thrive in the global internet betting industry, mobile gambling will invariably grow in popularity. Although it could certainly be a risky investment for the cell phone giant, Nokia is confident the mobile sector will steadily grow.

In other words, Nokia's postponement of the developing service wasn't because of any reservations or second thoughts. Nokia simply wanted to ensure the N-Gage gaming service was finely tuned and meticulously polished. And that it seems, for Nokia has already signed Electronic Arts, Glu Mobile and Gameloft to publish the N-Gage's selection of 25+ casino-style games.

If you want to be one of the first to have access to the games, get yourself Nokia's top performing handset, the N95. The service will also be available through the N81, N81 (8Gb), N82 and N95 (8Gb). Sorry to disappoint you all who thought iPhone was going to be your portal to mobile online casinos. But that's not all bad news for your Apple enthusiasts. I hear the iPhone will now wash your dirty dishes. Now that's innovation.
